Song of the Week: the highly anticipated new single release by Lorde “Green Light”

“Green Light” was released on March 2nd, 2017 via Republic records as the 1st single off of Melodrama, the 2nd studio album by Lorde

We have been anxiously awaiting new music from Lorde and we finally got the highly anticipated new single on Thursday night, a day ahead of when most new music gets released on Fridays.

“Green Light” features super catchy verses but the chorus might not hook everyone. Chatting with friends who have heard the song, it seems most are into it and the rest weren’t hooked – at least not yet. This song is a story and to get the story, you need to hear the song a few times. It’s a bit of a grower. The video helps – she does a great job acting out the emotions. I think its going to be a hit.

You can’t go wrong when you release new music that sounds like your old stuff but has a freshness and clear progression in song writing. The keyboard build right before the chorus showcases this perfectly.

Great song. Song of the Week.

‘Cause honey I’ll come get my things, but I can’t let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
Oh, I wish I could get my things and just let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
