“Settle Down” by No Doubt – The Song of the Week for 7/23/2012

“Settle Down” is the 1st single from No Doubt’s upcoming 6th studio album Push and Shove, due September 25, 2012

Genre: Ska, New Wave

The new single is out and we get a new album in September! My initial reaction to “Settle Down” is that it sounds like Gwen’s solo material but still sounds very much like a No Doubt song. I am not sure if this is the overall direction of the album or not – we will have to wait and see. All that I know is that the album’s recording process took longer than expected – again not sure if the band struggled to write music because of the long absence or they just spent a lot of time recording to make the best album they could. I am curious to see how well the song and album do on the charts.

“But you can see it my eyes, you can read on my lips
I’m trying to get a hold on this
And I really mean it this time
And you know it’s such a trip
Don’t get me started
I’m trying to get a hold on this”
