Prophets of Rage are here and stand to take the power back

“Prophets of Rage” was published on Youtube on July 18th and is the first release by the supergroup featuring members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill

Like many supergroups before them, Prophets of Rage look great on paper. How does the collection of talented musicians sound? Here is the first taste: a re-working of a Public Enemy song from the 1988 album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. Live footage on Youtube seems to point to the band only touring with reworks of material from their respective discographies. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tom Morello declared “we’re an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing.”

Will we get original music from this group or is a tour of re-worked material enough for you? Sound off in the comments section below or tweet me @MusicTrajectory

Hear my words my verbs
And get juiced up
I been around a while
You can descibe my sound
Clear the way
For the prophets of rage
(Power of the people say)
