Foster The People ‘Coming Of Age’ – The Song of the Week for 1/20/2014

Released January 14, 2014 via Columbia Records, “Coming of Age” is the 1st single off of Supermodel, the 2nd studio album by Foster The People

Genre: Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative Rock

Foster The People is back with a brand new single and new album Supermodel, due March 18, 2014. When I first heard the lead single “Coming of Age” the day it hit the web I was…surprised. Initially I didn’t think it was as strong of a lead single as they would need to put them back in the echelon they got to with their debut album. “Coming of Age” is no “Pumped Up Kicks” or “Helena Beat” but when you think about it, it is the perfect lead single to establish that the band is growing up and releasing more ‘mature’ music, if you will. After several listens, I rank the song right up there with their best work.

What are your thoughts on the new song and expectations of the new album? Sound off in the comments section below and tweet me @MusicTrajectory.

“When my fear pulls me out to sea
And the stars are hidden by my pride and my enemies
I seem to hurt the people that I care the most
Just like an animal I protect my pride
When I’m too bruised to fight
And even when I’m wrong I tend to think I’m right”
