“Someone Anyone” by Anberlin – The Song of the Week for 9/3/2012

“Someone Anyone” is the official first single off of Vital, the sixth studio album by alternative rock band Anberlin, set to be released October 16, 2012

“Someone Anyone” is the second song to be released during the promotional buildup and pre-release of the new album Vital. The first song “Self-Starter” also shows the music progression of the band but is not as strong of a song as “Someone Anyone” and the sentiment around the web echos that opinion.

With the release of Vital in October, Anberlin has now released six studio albums but still have yet to break into the mainstream. Is “Someone Anyone” strong enough of a single to do so? Anberlin’s third album Cities in 2007 is definitely their best album so far; does Vital have the potential to become known as the band’s best album?
