What is the best kind of album later in a band’s career? One that sounds like the “old stuff” fans love, but also sounds fresh and relevant. The Offspring successfully architects this with their new album. Reading through comments on all the new songs on Youtube for example, it’s clear long-time fans of the band think the album is very reminiscent of 1994’s classic Smash, arguably the band’s best album front to back. The beauty of this new album is it has a little bit of everything, no matter what era of the band’s career you prefer. Definitely one of the best alternative music albums released this year so far.
