“Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga is the official 3rd single from Born This Way, released May 23, 2011

Genre: Electro Rock, Dance-Pop, Synthpop

Straying away from my usual trend of picking a song that is totally brand new, this week’s Song of the Week is a few month’s old. “Edge of Glory” was released back on May 9, 2011.

I picked “Edge of Glory” because a friend asked me this week if I had seen Lady Gaga perform the song on Howard Stern. I hadn’t, so we watched it together. It was great a great performance to say the least, and it was nice to see her perform without a big stage set-up and backup dancers. Just her and her piano, showcasing her truly amazing voice. You can watch the official video for the song here.

Truth be told, I am a Lady Gaga fan. My dad, of all people, first got me into Lady Gaga by offering me a listen of Lady Gaga’s 1st album The Fame. I quickly liked the album and got to know more about Lady Gaga. The rest is history; I have a lot of respect for her. She is one of the few pop stars that actually have talent. She writes her own music, has a really good voice, and is a good dancer. She pushes the envelope with her fashion statements and all the crazy stuff she does. It is hard to make a case against Lady Gaga. I personally don’t know anyone who doesn’t like her.

For what it’s worth, “Poker Face” and “Judas” are my favorite Lady Gaga songs.

“It’s hot to feel the rush
To brush the dangerous
I’m gonna run right to
To the edge with you
Where we can both fall far in love”
