“Heart’s All Gone” by Blink 182 – The Song of the Week for 8/8/2011

“Heart’s All Gone” by Blink-182 is the 2nd single to be released from the new album Neighborhoods, released September 27, 2011

Genre: Pop Punk

So Blink-182 are “back”. Perhaps because the side projects weren’t bringing in enough dough. Regardless of why, they have a new album coming out on September 27, 2011 called Neighborhoods. I really don’t like the first single “Up All Night” so I took the return of Blink 182 off my radar until I heard this second release from the new album. “Heart’s All Gone” might not be released as the second single but since it’s leaked and on the internet, I am going to use it for the song of the week. Rougher around the edges compared to most Blink songs of the past. I dig it. If there is more material on the new album like this, I might consider checking it out. Awesome drums, Travis.

“But you only care about
Fame and fortune
Watching others tortured
Casting your reflection
Grocery store perfection
This is the last time
Sent to the front line
With dirty boots on the ground
You said I’ll make this all mine”

“Rolling In The Deep” by Adele – The Song of the Week for 8/1/2011

Adele - Picture

“Rolling In The Deep” by Adele is the lead single from her newest album 21, released November 29, 2010

Genre: Soul, Pop, Blues

Wow, this song is awesome! I heard it a few times on the alternative radio station I listen to here in San Diego – rare for a pop song to be played on an alternative station. The last time I heard a pop song on 91X was “Hey Ya” by OutKast! I actually didn’t know who this song was by and the DJs never say who it is. Meanwhile, I have been hearing a bunch of people talking about Adele. Then finally I start thinking I wonder if that song I keep hearing on the radio that I love is Adele. Turned out it is! No wonder there is so much buzz about her. This is the best song I have heard in a long time. And I will admit, I am not usually into pop music of any kind, but this song is a true gem and definitely the song of the week in my book. Enjoy!

“Throw your soul through every open door
Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow”

“The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie” by Red Hot Chili Peppers – The Song of the Week for 7/25/2011

“The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” by Red Hot Chili Peppers is the 1st single from the upcoming album I’m With You, set to be released August 26, 2011

Genre: Funk Rock, Alternative Rock

Not that the Red Hot Chili Peppers need my help in getting more exposure! I think the departure of John Frusciante will hurt but hopefully the album is still good. This week “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” debuted on Billboard’s Rock Charts at number 23. Power to the Peppers!

“Tic-toc, I want to rock you like the 80s
Cock-blocking isn’t allowed.
Tug boat sheila is into memorabilia
Who said three is a crowd?
We better get it on the go”

“Make It Stop (September’s Children)” by Rise Against – The Song of the Week for 7/18/2011

“Make It Stop (September’s Children)” by Rise Against is the 2nd single from the fantastic Endgame album, released March 15, 2011

Genre: Alternative Rock

First single “Help Is On The Way” has currently spent 25 weeks on Billboard’s Rock Charts and peaked at #2. Let’s see if “Make It Stop” can reach the #1 spot. Rise Against is one of the hottest rock bands going, hopefully this new single will keep the momentum.

I am glad to see the band featured in the video, as they were absent from the video for “Help Is On The Way”.

“Make it stop
Make this end
This life chose me, I’m not lost in sin
And proud I stand of who I am
I plan to go on living”
